Last weekend we got to do more travelling (hooray) to Stockholm, Sweden to attend a wedding of a very close friend of ours. And this wedding was like none I had ever been to before.
Not only was the wedding special but so was our time with our family – my parents and my brothers family. We had to leave our kids behind, this time, but they had an amazing time back home while we got to rest, relax and let our hair down.
Getting ready for a special event is always one of my favourite times. I got to do my mum’s make up and my sister-in-law and my nieces helped themselves to a little blush and lipgloss – girly times are the best!
This little niece of mine is so much fun to hang with and check out her sparkly tights! I want some.
I have a lot of people to thank for my wedding look. My dearest friend, Jo Sherlock, gave me a Sienna X Spray Tan, which made me feel so much more confident with most of my back on display. The dress was on loan from my lovely friend, Jessica Carey – thank you! And I was also loaned a beautiful pink clutch and jewellery!!
There was no snow on the ground when we landed on Friday but by the time we got out of the ceremony the snow was coming down strong and it was beautiful but also a treacherous walk back to our car wearing high heels walking on snow covered cobblestone.
We danced well past midnight at the reception and laughed till we couldn’t breathe. In our family the more of us you put together the funnier and louder we get. Check out my Instagram feed to see our epic selfies and photo bombing.
Sunday we went to the family home to spend a special time with the bride and groom and their families where we ate more wedding food, relaxed and laughed a lot more while the bride and groom opened their wedding gifts and cards. The best marriage advice given was
Never make love in the garden. Love is blind, but the neighbours are not! – unknown
I was far too relaxed to remember to take pictures and literally sat on a couch for six hours straight – total bliss.
Our last day there we woke early and rushed into downtown Stockholm to have breakfast with our friends. We got to chat business and creativity while all the kids played.
Sweden has always been close to our heart with great friends there whom we’ve visited many times since childhood. We’ll definitely be coming back with our kids next time to play in the snow.
